Actually 4 and a half stars for this Kenneth Cole Reaction Leather Bag. Please read if you want to know why.Purchased this bag almost a year ago for my first internship job. I actually didn't have to carry many things to and from the job, but I felt silly walking into the office empty handed . I also wanted to get a nice, professional looking briefcase for future work positions. My main deciding factors were style and price.I found this particular bag to be very attractive, and though originally hesitant in paying what I did for the bag, I eventually purchased the bag.Upon arrival, I was very impressed with the bag. It is an ideal size and has multiple compartments to store an array of items. It comes with the shoulder strap, a label of authenticity, and a nylon bag. I am unsure of the purpose of the nylon bag, but I believe it is to protect the leather bag during storage or from water. This nylon bag has saved me and my breifcase a total of three times now because the walk to my car from the office is quite far so when it is a rainy day, I unfold the nylon bag, stuff the breifcase in it and get to my car. Once it dries, I fold it back up, and put it back in the briefcase. I love that this added detail was included.Though the bag has belt buckle like clips, they are just cosmetic, stylish decorations. To open the bag, it is actually a simple push button system clasp. Just push the clasps in, and pull up.The storage space is more than enough for me. In my bag, I have a couple magazines, a thick padfolio, a planner, some extra paper work, small hand lotion, deodorant, multiple pens, other misc. items. Even with all that, I can still fit in an apple, banana, yogurt cup, and a 16oz thermos mug. Your mileage may vary on sizes of items.My only minor gripe I have with this bag, and the reason I deduct half a star, is the buckle to open the briefcase. One of the two clips works flawlessly. However, the other push button is not as easy. Sometimes it takes me 20 seconds just to get it open. You have the push the button clasp and pull the flap at a certain angle. I have gotten use to this though, and it doesn't nearly happen as often now that I got the hang of it.Besides that, it is a wonderful bag, and it has totally paid for itself, making it a great value buy. I have been complimented on the looks before and am glad I purchased it. After a year, the leather is still holding up well and the construction of the bag is still good. The button clasp problem can be overlooked, though it would be unfortunate if I needed to grab something in my bag in the case of an emergency and it gets stuck.If you're looking for a versatile bag that is professional, but has a great stylish flair to it, then consider this bag. I like carrying messenger bags to keep my stuff in, even though I don't take transit it's nice to be able to put various items into it whether personal or work related. I've had various styles over the years but mostly inexpensive ones you get at department stores. I saw this one on Amazon and did a bit of research into it before buying it to make sure it would work for me.There are lots of zippered compartments to put your stuff into that you want left private. I keep bills in the zippered compartments and my diary as it has banking information, passwords and other important notes in it. Keeping it in the zippered compartment means that it will take someone effort to get at it. There are two zippered compartments, one at the front of the bag as you lift the flap over and another inside the bag in the last compartment.I've had the bag for almost 2-years now and have had no problems with the zippers. They have never gotten stuck, and open and close easily.Inside the first open compartment there is a pocket to hold your cell phone, or another similarly sized electronic device (iTouch) and two pen holders. There is also room to add three credit cards or other similarly sized items.There is an open pocket on the back of the bag which gets use from time-to-time, mostly for mail that I may toss into it when checking the mail at the community mailbox.I was worried that the leather may tarnish as it rubs against anything but I can honestly say that the bag is still in perfect condition. It has worn very well. The stitching has held up very nicely and there are absolutely no area which is worn or damaged in spite of getting constant abuse since I've bought it.I've had similar styled bags in the past, and the lining is always the first to go - but I've had the bag now for two years and the lining is in fantastic condition. If you feel it you can tell that they've used a high quality lining -- it feels much thicker than you would expect in a bag that is less than $100.00.I like the stylish aspects of the bag. The handle at the top makes use of rivets and silver buckling. The clasps at the front work very well and secure the bag making it difficult for someone to get into it casually. The strap is also well constructed, though I was expecting a full leather strap I have found that the cloth works nicely (in fact not too many bags offer leather straps). The shoulder guard is nicely padded not too much, or too little and of course the strap holds to the bag using well designed clasps and the strap is adjustable.You see those buckles on the photos - they are just for style! This is the one feature of the bag I loved. You get a very stylish but functional bag that looks good.I've read many of the reviews, especially the negative or 1 and 2 star reviews but have had none of the problems they've had with it. This isn't a bag where you want to put 10 - 15 lbs of stuff into, it's just not designed for it. I keep my diary, cell phone and business cards in it. I've kept a net book with power cord, adapter and mouse in it along with an iPad and Android tablet and it works great. If you overload it chances are it will not function as intended and there are other bags out there where you can load them up -- this is not one of them.As I said I'm two years into this bag and love it. I'm looking for another high quality messenger bag and will most likely look towards a Kenneth Cole bag.

Great bag, very happy with the purchase. Perfect for any professional to use daily. Lots of space for storage of files and electronics. Will buy again in future.

Great bag, The clips get stuck easily.

I would have loved if this bag had just a few more little tight pockets inside, as well as a luggage loop on the back. Initially I thought it did from the pictures when I was ordering. My bad. But otherwise it is nice.

No problems after 3-4 years.Only complaint, it is a tad small.

The description clearly states leather-there is even a small tag attached to the handle stating leather. However this bag is NOT leather-and not even a quality faux leather. The result is a very light weight cheap looking bag. I bought this as a Christmas gift-and it was an embarrassment.
