Very highly recommended. Superb, very prompt, good quality, works perfectly
Very Highly Recommended. Amazingly easy and good. Cable is very sturdy and excellent quality - impressed. Used to transfer DigitalHi8 tapes from old (no easy pathway directly otherwise) Sony Camcorder DCR-H14E (working well) onto iMac Desktop via Firewire (using Apple 9 Pin firewire to Thunderbolt adaptor) and it worked brilliantly. I'd just recently experimented using a standard transfer setup (using component and also using SVGA ) (for the same tape - experimenting - that was OK; however this was SO much better quality and convenience). I used iMovie as software to import from Camcorder into iMac (iMovie)(easy), and then exported from iMovie as mp4 (once I'd found out how to use iMovie ! - nothing to do with this cable ). Very very pleased. Very highly recommended - IF you have a Sony Camcorder with Firewire (obviously only works for this type of device/setup). So much easier, and very much better quality, also no "artefact" from transfer device - I previously experimented with an analog to digital standard transfer device plus OBS studio software on the iMac - I was using that already for my own (older) analog camcorder to transfer tapes. So i also tried for this digital camcorder - for a family who had movies on this digital Camcorder. It worked, but I guessed I could transfer digitally, I researched, found this should work - and it did ! Brilliant , and easy (once you figure out how to export as mp4 from iMovie - not difficult, but not intuitive, read the manual !) .

Very Neet! :)
Had to get a new cable as I got a new MacBook Pro laptop recently and the firewire connection is upgraded from the old iMac G5 (2005) I was using previously (from firewire 400 to 800 I think), so I needed a new cable to connect my new MacBook Pro to my Canon XL1 video camera. This is the cable that does the job very well.I choose this cable over the others on Amazon as it was listed as a 'Pro' cable and looked quality and I wasn't disappointed (especially with the good price). I am very pleased as this is a really good quality cable (always a worry when ordering cables online). It has a good quality build and nice professional design and silver/steel metallic finish with plastic coating and the connection was really fast with no problems. Similar cables in PC world were £17-£24 so this is a great deal.Just to confirm, as it took me a while searching for the right cable - this cable fits the firewire for the latest MacBook Pro released in 2010, which is Firewire 800 I believe. So if you've just upgraded your mac and wondered why your cable no longer fits from your firewire connected device, this is the one. :)I ordered this cable from Neet Cables and it arrived very fast - within days of ordering.

Great cable for old miniDV transfer
Found an old camcorder of mine with lots of miniDV tapes from ages ago. Decided it was time to try and digitise them and bung them in the cloud so that I could browse my old videos from the cloud anywhere and any time I liked. This cable allowed me to plug the camcorder in and transfer the footage without any hassle. Plugged it in, the computer recognised it and then imported it into my computer and then the cloud. Simple.

Very pleased.
At first I received a message from iMovie that it could not control my mv30xi camera which was a disappointment of course. I tried several things and the status did not change. Later in the day I tried again and found it was working exactly as expected. I can’t explain that but at the end of the day it does not matter. It’s working perfectly.

compared with Apple this price is not too bad. It has been bothering me for many years ...
Worked well !! I used it together with Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adaptor, to connect my Canon MV750i to MacbookPro, then I can use iMovie application to import all my DVs from the cassettes of the past 10 years.Just the price can be cheaper. However, compared with Apple this price is not too bad.It has been bothering me for many years how to import the cassate DV to a hair disk in standard video format. Happy in the end. But it should have been much simpler.

nice cable
Excellent service - arrived next day with free delivery. Cable seems very well made. Unfortunately Premiere (CS6) crashes when I try to capture HDV to my MacBook Pro via Apple Thunderbolt adaptor which is what I bought it for but as iMovie has no issues with the same setup I guess it's not the cable's fault. I don't like the way iMovie converts that video so I use an old Apple utility called AVCVideoCap which captures the raw transport stream, which Premiere can play.
