Great book

We made a short class out of it. With all the vocabulary words and projects, we plan on having a lot of fun with it.

Lots of fantastic project ideas, and plenty of history information is included too.

For students interested in the Industrial revolution, I recommend: The Industrial Revolution (Cornerstones of Freedom. Third Series) Mill The Age of Industry (See Through History) DK Eyewitness Books: Invention This book has a negative slant on industrialization and dwells too much on the violent labor movement, including an activity where your child makes a picket sign and goes on strike, another where your child writes an anti-work song, amd interviews with adults to gaugelabor-union sentiments.The book has some interesting crafts: Make a canal lock (works) make a little paddlewheel steamboat, make electrical circuits.Decidedly anti-American when it comes to the captains of industry -- the book basically considers successful business tycoons nothing short of criminals and overlooks the tremendous benefits they brought to America through their initiative, success, and philanthropy.

I neither have nor work with children, I teach Economic History to university students. I am impressed by how through this book is at covering important aspects of the industrial revolution; if my students absorbed everything covered in this book I would consider it a successful course.
