Easy-Peasy
the old 4WD switch in my 1999 Tahoe would flicker or just go out completely in 2-High. Admittedly, I don't know if my Tahoe would/wouldn't go into 4WD with the old switch but I wasn't gonna roll the dice and get stuck in 4WD because my switch was broken. This Dorman switch is reasonably priced and easy to install; just look on YouTube for installation videos and you'll be all set. New switch looks great and works perfectly. As others have mentioned, the back-light is pretty bright but it's located on an area of the dash where it's really not visible unless you're specifically looking for the switch. Bottom line: good price, good quality, easy installation.

Bright LEDS
This switch is very easy to install and works fine. However like all Dorman replacement dash parts, the LEDs they use in them are WAY too bright to fit in with the rest of the OEM dash components.

Solved all of my intermittent 4WD shift faults
If your GM 4WD is showing symptoms such as dropping out of 4WD, or the 2WD/4WD lights not staying lit, this should be your first repair. This is a perfect replacement that is nearly indistinguishable from the OEM part. Installation is simply a matter of gently prying around the old switch, starting with the right side. The whole process took me about 3 minutes. My 98 diesel suburban started becoming difficult to engage 4WD. Sometimes it would engage, sometimes it wouldn't, and sometimes the indicator lights wouldn't light, leaving me guessing as to what range it was in, and leaving me uneasy when driving on slippery surfaces. I feared one of the expensive electric selectors were bad, but figured I would try this first. Replacing this switch solved all of the problems instantly. Ironically, my "service 4WD" light never came on.For those that are wondering, this is made in China. However, the quality seems to be every bit as good as the original; possibly better. The original switch is made by Lucas, a British company famous for making the electronics in British sports cars, and the original patent holder for the short circuit. Lucas also made many British refrigerators, which explains why the British like warm beer.In short, this is at least as good or better than the OEM switch at less than half the price.Lighting update: I read a lot of complaints about the brighter than OEM light. I drove the truck tonight and can say that this definitely has a whiter, brighter light than OEM. I also noticed that it doesn't dim with the dimmer knob. My guess is they used LEDs instead of standard bulbs. That being said, it is a very pleasant light, and it is mostly obscured by the gear shift and steering wheel while driving. In my opinion, it is not distracting at all.
