Our order arrived quickly as usual. I bought the Dip Stick Tube along with a new dip stick to replace the one on my daughters new to her '01 VW Jetta 2.0 liter, I was amazed how brittle the old dip stick tube was & thought the car had been in an accident at one time or another. After some research, cracking & crumbling of the dip stick tubes is common and I would have thought VW would have an updated tube by now. I believe the heat from the radiator hose that is routed next to the Dip Stick tube and the heat from the oil doesn't help.Since our old tube basically fell apart removing it was hard to compare it to the new part. There is a slight difference in the base of the new tube. Perhaps an update? I doubled check before ordering. We decided to wrap the tube in some of the Hush Mat heat/sound damping. I wanted to see if the HM will help protect the tube from the heat or accelerate it. I couldn't get the new tube to fully seat on the bracket (at the top of tube) so I covered the tube with a clean rag,took a block of wood and a BFH and was able to seat the tube a bit more on the bracket. But every time I inserted the dip stick,the tube kept pulling up. I tried the block of wood & BFH and ended up with the same results. I wanted to smack the tube a few more times just in case it wasn't quite seated all the way down but was afraid I would damage the new tube. I'm left wondering if there is supposed to be some type of O ring that goes in the base of the tube to keep it from pulling loose. Since we just changed oil, we know how far the dip stick must sit in the tube. So it's not like we're pushing the DS too far in the tube. I used my camera and looked down the tube to make sure the tube was sitting flush, which it was. So either I ordered the wrong tube, it needs an O ring which I was unable to locate or the Dorman dip stick tube just isn't quite up to VW specs. So I took a metal zip tie and wrapped it around the tube bracket. The tube can no longer pull loose and once the engine cover is back in place, the tube sits where it's supposed to.Would I recommend this part? I don't really know. I should have checked VW OEM prices first, but I rarely purchase from a dealership because of the high mark up on parts. But this dip stick tube wasn't over priced and was an easy install. The reason for the 3 star was due to having to use a metal zip tie.

Not trouble to install, just one screw and cover came off.

Fits like the original however the dipstick has an extremely tight fit and if pushed all the way in will be very difficult to get out.

This product is brittle. I followed instruction as provided on YouTube video and still used caution above that. The old tube WILL break and drop debris into the oil pan. The new tube WILL break if you "tap" it into place. I barely struck it with a soft mallet and the bottom flange end shattered. Additionally, the new dipstick fits so tightly that the whole assembly comes out when you try to pull the dipstick only...VERY disappointed.

This dipstick tube is for my 2001 VW Beetle with a 2.0L AEG engine. I always replace this tube when I install a new dipstick. It is a perfect fit.
