This was a gift for a boating friend and he absolutely loved it. It's a cool gadget and comes in a really nice box. It was also packed well to ensure no damage to the item in shipping. It also has a level in the middle so it really is perfect for boaters.

I purchased this gift for my father who likes to teach nautical navigation courses, and he loves it! This compass and box are made of fine materials, and have an excellent weight to them. I would say that you are getting a good value for the materials you are purchasing. It makes for a great decoration piece.

The only "negative" that I can offer about the nautical compass is the packaging for delivery. It was very well packaged with lots of protective wrap but the box and packaging are not "giftable", at least by my standards. I start with that comment with acknowledgement that it's a very minor issue as using gift packaging was not a problem for me. The quality of the compass far exceeded my expectations! The box as well as the compass itself are well made with good weight and a solid feel. The box is just as show worthy as the compass, which is actually functional and has a lot of great detail. The only way that it could be better (in my opinion) is if they offered an engraved brass plate. I had to order that seperately. But otherwise, I am very happy with this purchase and it was a big hit for whom it was gifted. I would recommend and buy again (if I needed another one).

I got this for my husband on our anniversary. It arrived in 1 day. The wooden box that it is housed in is absolutely gorgeous. It is a high quality nautical compass. I would definitely recommend this for the hard to buy for person in your life.

I gave this to my husband for our 8th anniversary (bronze). This was perfect. It is well made, comes in a beautiful wooden box. He loved the uniqueness of this gift.

Carefully wrapped. In apparent good order but I'm yet to go outside during local area noon to test it. This strikes me as an instrument at a reasonable price. I really don't think this is a toy.
