small but oh so bright !!!
My neighbor put up a Star Shower and it looked "OK" but not that visible on one tree. I placed this one in my yard, and wow! what a difference. It lit up multiple trees... The green stars are so bright as compared to my neighbors display. I am VERY impressed. and no this is not a discounted or free product for a review. I actually paid for this like everyone else does. This is not endorsed or sponsored. This is just my simple review of a product that works as advertised. I would also purchase a red one but the price for each one at this time of the season forbids it. Maybe if they go on sale after Christmas I will. So, I guess the only con of this projector is the price. All I can say is that if you can afford one, this is the one you should get. However, I have not tried any others out there for sale... I was only able to do a side by side comparison against the Star Shower model.....OK, so if any of you sellers want to offer me one for free and want to chance an unbiased review your on... I must warn you that I will not hold back one way or the other.....

Beautiful Firefly Effect
I love this little green laser light. I bought my first one over a year ago to use as an outdoor display last Christmas. After re-using it this year (still working great), I decided to splurge and buy another one to illuminate the other side of the house. It looks great lighting up the side of a building (the darker the surrounding area the better), but I prefer it pointed at trees and shrubs. Against a building it will have organized patterns which you can adjust (they are static images), but pointed against trees and shrubs it looks like thousands of little fireflies since the pattern is more random. And it has a flickering effect as the wind moves the leaves. Just have to be careful to have it pointed where it won't be directly shining in your or your neighbors eyes.I bought the green one since from other reviews it is far brighter than the blue and red versions. From Wikipedia "The apparent brightness of a spot from a laser beam depends on the optical power of the laser, the reflectivity of the surface, and the chromatic response of the human eye. For the same optical power, green laser light will seem brighter than other colors because the human eye is most sensitive at low light levels in the green region of the spectrum (wavelength 520–570 nm). Sensitivity decreases for redder or bluer wavelengths."

Perfect solution
We purchased our first Sparkle Magic emerald green from the manufacturer as it was less expensive. Since then, Amazon started selling it for less, so we bought another one from them. The green laser is by far the brightest compared to the red laser. We returned the red before buying another green. There is only one problem that some will experience, but fortunately there is an easy fix. The green laser loses intensity when temperatures drop well below freezing. We live in Colorado and tested it when it dropped below 20 degrees. The unit, which is very well made of extruded aluminum, generates enough heat to keep itself warm inside the house, so I merely bought 3/4 inch foam tees used to insulate outdoor pipes. They are available at Lowes and HD. The foam insulation was enough for the laser to keep itself warm outside. Problem solved for 2 dollars. If your temperatures don't drop much below freezing, you will not need to do this. We also compared the Sparkle Magic's pattern, brightness and quality to another brand of laser and the Sparkle was better in every way. We now have 2 for ourselves and plan to buy 2 more for our HOA to light 4 big Ponderosas at the entrance. This will cost less than half the cost of tree lights and no installation involved. As a note, they comply with FAA regulations regarding lasers.

I really wanted to like this product because it elicited oohs and aahs from ...
I bought three of these, one of each color (red, green, blue) for my Christmas display. All three worked out of the box, but after a couple of weeks, the green one failed. After a couple of more weeks, the blue one failed. The red one lasted the entire season (about 5 weeks for my display) and still works.I really wanted to like this product because it elicited oohs and aahs from my family and neighbors. The effect was subtle but stunning. I had them shined from the ground stake up the trunk of a tree and into the branches. While they were nowhere nearly as bright as my LED display lights, which were further away, people noticed the lasers. If the lasers had not failed, I would have given this product five stars. For the price charged, I expected the lasers to last for at least two seasons, so I can't recommend them.

Very nice quality light- BUT using with a timer is VERY difficult!
I purchased this light with the intension of placing it on a timer and using it year round for landscape lighting, the instructions actually recommend using a timer. I hassled with various timers to get it to work properly. Wall switch timers either digital or mechanical will not work with this laser, the light will pulse on/off when the switch is in the off position. A totally mechanical timer must be used, such as the kind that plug into an outlet and have movable tabs in a circle- then you plug the light into it. If you're going to use this light with a timer outside, be prepared to get a large weather proof box to enclose a plug receptacle, timer and the light line transformer. The light itself is made well and has nice patterns and looks great; otherwise I would not have battled with the timer issue as much as I did. I figured all this out on my own through trial and error. I spoke to the manufactures technical support on the phone; they understood what I was saying and asked me to send them a detailed email explaining the problem. I sent them a detailed email with pictures. I made a follow-up call and was told they are still waiting on an electrician. After two weeks, their electrician has of yet to get back to me.
