Super Sleek, Tiny Companion Phone

I purchased this phone as a companion phone primarily so that I could take it out with me when I run errands or go to places where I want to disconnect from my main phone (movies, dinner, meeting, etc.) The phone has a sleek design and is super small, but I wish the battery lasted a little longer. I ordered a Mophie charging case though and it's been great ever since!

UPDATE: Bricked! WAS: Beautiful, tiny, minimalist expression of Android

UPDATE: As of 9/2/21, these phones no longer work on the US AT&T network, so the device is largely useless at this point (the companion idea is terrible....why would I carry around a small phone when I still have to carry around my big phone?). I can't really rate the phone anything other than "Don't Buy" at this point.Narrower than a credit card, and a little longer. This is the phone for people who hate smartphones. It has a tiny, very pretty screen, has a pretty straightforward setup, and looks really, really good. The only dings I have one this phone are its anemic battery life (it drains pretty quickly when you're using it, but also charges very fast) and lack of labels on the home screen (I was working on a PDA with a nearly identical UI but abandoned it when I found this phone...but mine had the option to turn on icon labels). No biggie, thought.Really nice, slick phone - a minimalist phone while still having basic Android features. This what I envision Steve Jobs as signing off on if he hadn't died post-iPhone 4 (well, a bit more rounded)UPDATE: One caveat - there are some major annoyances (Android stuff). First, the autocorrect when you type is atrocious - it constantly CONSTANTLY changes text to what it thinks you mean without asking. I HATE HATE HATE that. Secondly, the stupid messaging feature "Smart Reply"...on a phone this small it should be disabled by default. I screwed up a convo with my brother and wound up double ordering a $150 item because the damn phone sent "Yes, please!" instead of my message of "No, I'm good. I already got it." Same problem with the sleep screen - sometimes swiping up to the home page will inadvertently activate the camera. This is why I hate smartphones (even this minimalize one) - they try to cram too many conveniences into a small space, and they all start to step on each others' screen space.

Almost ideal companion device

I purchased the Palm Phone in 2023, knowing full well it was based on a 5 year old design and reading the reviews that the battery life was pretty bad. I got the Palm to use as a secondary phone when I needed just the basics, wanted to travel light or didn't want to take my nice, big phone out for a workout. The Palm meets all these requirements for me. On top of that, it is a pleasant looking device. It will not set the design world on fire, but it is simple and clean.I can use the Palm as a bike computer, Spotify device and basic communication device with T-Mobile Digits.Again, the battery is pretty bad. Get the Mophie battery case, Not only does it help with grip and tactile feel of the phone, it doubles the battery life. Now, my biggest complaint is not with the phone, but with the Palm company. No updates to Android. The Palm Phone is running Android 8. If the company would send out an update for 9, features like Digital Well Being and Do Not Disturb would be really useful on a device designed to get you to use your phone less. And, no security updates since 4/1/2021.

not quite the phone of my dreams.....

For years I have shopped in dismay for the kind of smart phone I envisioned-small, compact and a reliable communication device. Phones kept getting bigger and bigger ostensibly for those who like to spend their lives on them-while I was simply seeking a phone that was reliable and had the speech to text feature that eliminated all that inefficient typing nonsense. At last, I discovered the Palm phone and was excited to give it a try. While it did provide good service, sadly the Google speech to text software is defective. It only records a sentence at a time. When you attempt to resume, it strangely deletes the last word of the previous sentence. I wanted this phone to work so badly I tried a total of three-one of them failed to set up properly and the other two sadly had the speech to text flaw. I find it strange that Palm failed to sort this out in the early going, this feature would seemingly be more important on a smaller phone where typing text could be a challenge. In my opinion, there are probably a few million people out there who primarily want a communication device that doesn't feel like an unwieldy boat anchor in your pocket. I have computers to web surf and require few more on a phone. If Palm can address this one critical flaw, I'll be back. The size and feel is really cool-It just fell short of one important criteria for me.

Impressive in a very small package

This Palm phone is an impressive device. The build quality seems excellent. It looks good and feels nice in the hand. (Had to get a case as it is slippery.) The screen is sharp and clear and very responsive to touch. I've gotten used to using a much larger iPhone XR, but this only took a little effort getting used to the touch points on the smaller screen. As far as reading content, it is very good. I was expecting it to be a bit difficult, but it hasn't been an issue. The resolution is excellent. I haven't done a lot of internet surfing. I would imagine it's okay but not sure I would be on it for long periods. Call quality and sound is excellent as well. Battery life is okay; it lasts most of the day, so I charge it daily. I haven't used a lot of apps, but app use also seems pretty solid. Again, not sure I would be on it for very long periods of time. (Time will tell.) I absolutely love the compact size of this phone. I throw it in my pocket and hardly know it's there. I would recommend this for someone that doesn't want to carry a big phone around, but still wants a fully functional smartphone. I'm impressed.
