Easy to Crochet Potholders: Over 25 Patterns for Everyday Use, Handmade Gifts, and Holiday Fun

I agree with 2 other reviewers of this book. The title is "easy" but it's not. I've been crocheting for many years and I finally gave up trying to figure out what the author was trying to convey in her directions. A waste of money.

First pattern I tried was the striped pitcher. Very cool pattern. Easy to follow patterns. Very colorful and a large selection for different holidays.

I am looking for a pot holder book for functional use, not decorative. I too had problems with the yarn that was requested to use.

This is a Christmas gift. Is perfect for my purpose

Happy with book & patterns didn't know book was used but am ok with it

Cornelia is a Germany-based fiber artist; she has designed a book full of very clever and unusually creative potholders. The pictures are beautiful; her directions could include more instruction though. She describes most of the potholders as beginner level; I would call most of them "intermediate". (I consider myself an intermediate + crocheter/knitter who often designs her own patterns.) This book is not for a beginner,in my opinion. VERY IMPORTANT! The patterns call for a European yarn that is not readily available in this country. She listed 3 U.S.A. based suppliers in the back of the book but only one of them seemed to stock it and you have to phone in the order, sight unseen. The patterns call for crochet hook size "C" (rather small) so converting these patterns to a larger hook/yarn such as Lily's or Elmore-Pisgah is going to be very time consuming and challenging. Trust me, I tried. Because of this I gave the book 3 stars. I loved the designs and found about 23 out of 25 I would like to make but I doubt I will go through the hassle and expense of special ordering these small yarns. If you would like to peruse the book, try to get it from your local library system. This is what I did, thankfully. I always do this, if possible, before purchasing a book. I hope this review is helpful.
