Leviton10083-16 Electrolier 1-Circuit Lamp Holder, 250 W, Incandescent, Medium, No Size, Brass

This replaces the original 3-way turn switch in a floor lamp. Its operation had become very finicky to get the light to stay on. Since we only use "1-way" light bulbs, I wanted a version of a turn switch with a simple on/off sequence, not the irritating flashing that occurs with a 1-way light bulb in a 3-way switch.All the on/off turn switches at local hardware stores were actually manufactured just like 3-way turn switches except that the middle electrode in the socket is trimmed so it doesn't protrude out of the slot in the bottom of the socket. The practical effect is that the operation sequence of the four positions of the rotary knob is: OFF, OFF, ON, ON. Unexpected and irritating, since you thought you bought an on/off version of the turn switch.This Leviton part number, 10083-16, on the other hand, is manufactured as a true on/off switch. The operation sequence is OFF, ON, OFF, ON, just like you would have expected and preferred. The visible physical difference is that looking down into the socket, you will not see that middle electrode.

Works as expected, get the Job done and the price is reasonable.

The original switch mounted the wires differently so this involves stripping the ends and wrapping around the 2 screws. The biggest "challenge" involved identifying which was the hot wire in the cord (old unpolarized cord). Total replacement 10 minutes. Works great.

This socket works great. Easy to install, it tales about 10 minutes to replace slide-switch socket often found on many lamps. I have replaced all of the other style sockets in my home.

Trying to reconnect to two halves, that did not have designated clip positions, it deformed as if it was made of the world's strongest aluminum foil. I used the guts out of it with the old top and bottom that was made with much heavier metal in America many years ago.
