Deltana SDL980U19 Storm Door Latch with A Round Rose 7/8-Inch to 1-3/8-Inch Door Thickness

I mounted this latch on a 1 1/8 inch thick custom-made cedar screen door for our screened-in porch. This is an attractive, well-made, good quality latch that I expect will last a long time and fits the look and style of the porch -- not the usual thumb-button latch one finds on 99% of screen doors. The only problem I ran into when installing was that the bolt doesn't quite retract completely into the barrel when the inside lever is depressed so you need to allow for about 1/8 inch clearance between the edge of the door and the door frame for the latch to work properly. Don't get the door too close to the door frame or you'll be required to do some more laborious modifications in order for the latch to open the door. Instead of planing a little off the latch-side of the door, I mortised my hinges a little deeper on the opposite side and everything worked out fine.

Great value, solid construction. I had it installed by a pro, and no issues.

Mechanism will fail eventually. Loved it for the price!!!

Bought this for our motorhome bathroom door. It was difficult to find a door knob for only a one inch thick door. This fit perfectly and looks great. The black finish was a perfect match to the rest of the accessories in the room.

I followed the instructions perfectly. I drilled the 5/8" back set through the door with the center at 1-3/4". I drilled the 5/8" cylinder hole through the center of the door. I installed the cylinder and then tried to set the turn rod through the cylinder. The back set hole at 1-3/4" is set too far back. In order to make this work I had to route out the hole. The back set hole should be 1-1/2" to 1-5/8" in order for this piece of junk to work properly. DON'T BUY.

As others have said - poor design/quality ... but I can't find anything better on the market. Choppy action turning the handle and getting the striker to move - worse when you try to let the door close by itself and have the striker slide in by itself. Finish seems ok ... at least initially.

Two stars because it was a perfect fit for my door. However, the internal mechanism is crap. The handle itself does not move freely and gets jammed easily. Very difficult to get in and out of the door. Going to have to replace.

Bought to replace existing door handle. So far working as intended. No issues with the latch not turning. Install was easy and straight forward.
