Amazon Brand - Wag Wholesome Grains Puppy Large Breed Dry Dog Food, Chicken & Brown Rice - 15 lb

I'm a very picky pet mom and we primarily feed raw so kibble to me is an alternative which can work if used in conjunction with added meat. We add raw meat but that is just our preference, lightly cooked works too and sometimes I like to just brown the meat a little on the outside. The smell of the meat cooking really gets my dog's mouth watering.This food is decent but I would not recommend it as a whole diet. To me feeding kibble is the equivalent of eating breakfast cereal all day every day. Dogs, just like people need fresh food and not just processed dried "feed"My dog would not touch this when offered it alone but if I mix it about 3/4 fresh meat and 1/4 kibble she will eat it up. My dog is small so that ratio is affordable for us, but even if you can only do 1/4 fresh meat, it's going to improve the nutrition for your dog.Only recommend this as an adjunct to fresh meat.Thanks for reading my review

I got this to try out for a litter of VERY energetic golden retrievers who just started on kibble, and they seem to LOVE it! They dug right in! This food has really been a pleasant surprise, because I wasn’t at all sure what to expect from it, but like a lot of things that Amazon brands under their various brands, this puppy food is high quality and the pups enjoy it.First off, the kibble size is fantastic. A lot of puppy kibble - especially kibble for anything but the smallest breeds - is fairly large. I LOVE that this kibble is a smaller size to make it easy for puppies to handle with their small and still awkward mouths. This was really well thought out!Second, the nutrient content of this puppy food is pretty good. I do like that chicken is the first ingredient, and for the price, the ingredients and the nutrient balance of the food is decent (and overall would probably be considered a mid-range kibble, although you are paying value prices!)A criticism I do have is that the origin of ingredients is murky. While the label states that ingredients are harvested from the US and globally, that could literally mean from anywhere, and that leaves the consumer to assume….pretty much anything. I feel that a bit more transparency here would be helpful, because consumers like to know where their pet’s food is coming from (just as they like to know where their own food is coming from). Other than this one thing though, which wasn’t enough for me to take away any stars at this moment, I really have no complaints about this food.All in all, the food is a hit with these new puppies, and I hope to use it with future litters in the household as well! Definitely a five star ⭐️ puppy food! Highly recommend.

This is the second bag of dog food I've reviewed that was branded under the Amazon Wag brand and it is definitely a good product.Chicken & Brown Rice! What puppy (or dog) wouldn't love that? I like that it is made with American chicken and the main ingredient listing does not have many questionable things added. Based on all of the bag information it appears that Wag is a good, nutritionally complete product for a growing puppy.My only concern, given that it is made for a Large Breed puppy is the super small size of the kibbles. Giving them to my large retriever taste testers resulted in tiny kibble everywhere. They did enjoy it however and might be better if it were served in a high sided bowl. Guessing that the small kibble might be gentler on a puppy's stomach and easier to break down. (A vet would be good to consult if concerned!)The quality and pricing of this Wag Wholesome Grains Large Breed Puppy Dry Dog Food is comparable to many other similar brands and the bonus is that if you order it on the Subscribe & Save Program it will come right to your door *with* a discount! We have tried several different varieties of Amazon brand pet foods and have yet to be disappointed. The Wag Wholesome Grains Large Breed Puppy dry food is another high quality food that was quickly devoured.For large breed puppies, I was surprised how small the kibble was. This could be a good or bad thing depending on how greedily your puppies eat the food! If they inhale food without chewing, it could certainly pose a problem. However, the pieces are easy to eat, making it easier to chew for puppies that are just getting used to eating dry kibble.The ingredients are pretty good and on par with higher quality brands sold in most pet supermarkets. It's higher quality than most mainstream brands sold in local discount stores. I wouldn't say it's the highest quality food on the market.As for taste, the food was instantly devoured so I'd say it gets two paws up!!After transitioning to this new food over a period of a few days, no digestive upsets were experienced, thank goodness!

This Amazon Brand Wag Wholesome Grains Large Breed Puppy Dry Dog food has really small kibble pieces. My pup is a large breed mix and I actually had to get a slow feeder, as he kept choking as he was not chewing it up.He loves the taste and has only had minor tummy issues. He eats his food pretty fast, so most of it goes down whole, even though I have been mixing it with his regular food. It's about 1/4 of the size of his regular kibble, and it is on the small side. I feel this would be a kibble size better marketed for small breed dogs, instead.Overall, the ingredients are good, aside from not knowing the source of all of them. The price is higher than our regular brand for a 44lb bag, so this is a bit out of our budget. I don't deduct stars for price point, as it is subjective and in the beholder of the wallet's opinion for any given product.I would say, if you are okay with the ingredients, your pup is quite small, or you plan to use a slow feeder, I would recommend this puppy food.
