BELLPit Boss "Sport" Unisex-Adult Half Street Helmet (Solid Matte Black, Large) (D.O.T.-Certified)

Fits and works great. Doesn't lift off your head at speed. I find the visor of little use, it tends to hit the bridge of your nose at times. The pit boss does not work well with goggles, the strap tends to sit too high or too low in the back which pulls the goggle too high or low. Motorcycle glasses work much better.Worked flawlessly in a 30mph lay down crash. Did not feel any impact but could hear it scraping against the pavement. The ear flaps did not scrape. Very tough, thought it would have shown more damage.

First, the helmet was made with about a 1/4 inch "twist" so that the centerline of the helmet does not line up with the centerline of my head. I never noticed this until I lost my sunglasses on a ride and used the flip down sun shade and the vee in the shade didn't line up with my nose. Secondly, I think the sizing runs small. I'm an in between size, on the line between a medium and a large. So I ordered up to large and wish I would have ordered an extra large. I could never get the speed dial adjustment to fit comfortably. The adjustment wheel would dig into the back of my head. After about two months of trying to make it work, I gave up, figured I would leave it on the shelf as an extra. About a week later I couldn't help but try it just one more time, when I finally figured out the speed dial adjustment can be removed from the helmet. Made a huge difference in the fit and feel. I wear this helmet every time I ride now, in warm or hot weather. I don't use the flip down, just make sure I always have a couple of pair of glasses.

Great helmet. Solid, built well, excellent detailing and the visor is super. I always have eye protection even when I forget my sunglasses or lose my goggles which happens too often.

It is not the helmet pictured. It has a visor (that IS detachable but leaving pretty big screw holes visible) and a retractable sun shade. The retractable sun shade is why the helmet extends 2 to 3 inches above your head-THIS helmet is obviously THE helmet people are referring to when they describe mushroomhead. And aside from a deceptive listing, the craziest thing on the helmet is the neck nape 'strap'...what they call "Innovative Speed Dial adjustable fit system." Unlike every other helmet I've ever seen with a cushioned leather or rubber pad and adjustable straps to prevent shifting, this thing has a piece of hard plastic that you might find on a construction safety helmet or a child's toy. I'm kind of amazed that this helmet ever got past the idea phase to the manufacturing floor, it's total garbage. I cant find one good thing to say about it and I LOVE my full face Bell Qualifier. If you ignore this review, order a size larger than their sizing chart, that is also not acccurate. Mine is already back in the box 10 minutes later, ready to be returned. This helmet is great for those hot days when a full face can be stifling. It fits securely and has some adjustment so there is no buffeting in the wind.EDIT: After wearing the helmet for a while I have come across a couple of minor issues. The pull down shade is nice but either it's not optically correct or my progressive prescription lens doesn't work well with it. There just seems to be some blurriness that I don't care for.Also, when the weather finally cooled down enough to use the neck curtain I have had no luck trying to get it zipped in. The zipper keeps separating where it curves around the helmet.Edit: After about 6-8 months of usage I've noticed that some of the hardware is starting to rust. Also the snap that secures the end of the chin strap broke. These are minor annoyances, but not something we should have to deal with. Still a great fitting helmet. Just some minor problems Bell should address.

Disappointed in warehouse description. Understood shipping in damaged box. But this helmet came without helmet bag and owners manual with no warranty card. For as much as I paid could of gotten much better helmet on eBay. In addition helmet liner smelled liked oily hair.
