ABOUT THE TEACHER: Finis Jhung is a world-renowned ballet master who has been featured on CBS THS MORNING, written The Finis Jhung Ballet Technique: A Guide for Teachers & Students and produced more than 45 instructional videos. ABOUT THE VIDEO: This will be one of your favorite classes because it's got all the "Finis" things that teachers and students want, and it's simple enough for Adult beginners as well as your advanced beginners ready to move up. At the barre and in center floor, Finis presents and explains each exercise, and while Noriko Naraoka demonstrates, Finis stands by and coaches. A real plus to this video is seeing Noriko float across the floor with utter serenity and movements that flow like silk. She really casts a spell on you. The class begins with Finis' famous floor stretches, and then proceeds to a simply constructed barre that stretches and strengthens. In the center, Finis has designed the class to develop movement skills. All exercises travel, turn, and constantly change legs and positions: from tendu and pirouettes to adagio to jumps that include assemblé, sissone ouverte to arabesque, and grand jeté. You're going to learn a lot from this class! BARRE EXERCISES - 1. Floor stretches; 2. Pliés; 3. Battement tendu in 1st position facing the barre; 4. Battement tendu in 1st position with stretches; 5. Battement tendu in 5th position with stretches & balance; 6. Battement tendu dégagé in 5th position with balance; 7. Working the foot and stretching the body; 8. Rond de jambe on the floor, in the air, with stretches; 9. Fondu & Frappé; 10. Grand battement. CENTER EXERCISES - 1. Waltz, pirouette en dehors; 2. Traveling adagio with piqué arabesque; 3. Waltz, piqué arabesque, fondu relevé, pirouette en dedans; 4. Arabesque turn, changements; 5. Drill, pas de bourrée; 6. Assemblé, jumping pas de bourrées, chaînés; 7. Assemblé, sissone, jumping pas de bourrées, grand jeté; 8. Révérence
