Extremely heavy. I had to meet the delivery truck as he thought my road would be too difficult to drive, so he helped me get the boxes into my car. Then when I got home, I literally carried them in piece by piece. Putting it together was not difficult, but help from a second person did help a lot a few times. The top sticks out from the rest of the cabinet, which is odd but not too noticeable. (It's there so if you buy doors, they close under it. Very nice construction and quality. Unfortunately it is MADE IN CHINA. Yuck!!

These are amazing.... I am one of those people that have ALOT of books and quite a few of those are heavy reference manuals - anytime I buy bookshelves - I can't stand the cardboard thin backing and the saggy shelves made of cheap particle board. These bookshelves were AMAZING. WELL WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY..... They were not easy to build with one person - required alot of time and patience - this isn't a project that will take 15 minutes..... It took us about 2 hours for the first one and probably 45 minutes for the second one and we had 2 people (on and off). If you want something sturdy that will stand the test of time - these are it...(please keep in mind - they are very very heavy too) . The back is actually a real back , the shelves haven't sagged at all (which usually happens after the first week on a cheap bookshelf). I have to buy more of these in about a year and I am just hoping they are still available and of the same quality at that time as I will purchase 6 more shelves....

I purchased two of these shelves to go along with the Alera Valencia Series desks. These are well made and very sturdy for a shelf that requires assembly. The back of the shelf is solid - not that flimsy cardboard. Assembly was simple and took about 30 minutes. These look great, and I would purchase again.

Very nice bookcase, very well made and not too difficult to assemble. There are a few times where having a second person helps. This thing is very heavy.

I purchased five of these shelves because I needed a linen closet and storage in my new home. I specifically ordered this shelf because it said it was 14.5" deep. It is not. It is also not 82" tall. I paid someone to put the first shelf together and that is when I discovered that the true depth (inside) was less than 12". Clearly, not big enough for king sized sheets, mattress covers and large, fluffy towels ... unless you put one per shelf ... which I don't have room to do. So I called Amazon to file a claim and get the shelves returned. I won't go to elaborate details, but suffice it to say, at first Amazon staff (A-Z Guarantee) was very helpful. However they came back with the "solution" that I should pay to ship these very heavy shelves back and that the company who sent them, Best Source, would charge me a 20% re-stocking fee. That was clearly not satisfactory since these shelves were not as advertised. Amazon and I went around and around for several weeks and they would absolutely not pick them up, although the vendor did waive the 20% restocking fee. In the meantime these very heavy shelves, were just sitting there on our trailer, covered up, for three weeks. My husband and I are 81 and 70 respectively and cannot lift these items. Finally, I noticed that the address they wanted us to ship them to was the same state where I live and we decided that driving them there would be cheaper than shipping them. So I called Amazon, which whom I had been dealing all along, to ask that someone at the drop off location offload the shelves, since we are not capable of that, and that I be given a receipt to prove that I returned them. Even after asking for a supervisor, Amazon refused to help me and insisted that I speak to the vendor (who had not replied to my initial overtures for five days until Amazon got involved). Anyway, I did a reverse look up on the delivery address and spoke to a very nice lady. I was pretty angry at first, after three weeks of doing this dance with Amazon. I wish I had spoken to this woman weeks ago. They do pick up. Amazon was not giving me the correct information and she arranged for the pickup the very next day. So, at least I am on the path of getting most of my money back. (I told them I would keep the shelf that was assembled, even if I couldn't use it as planned). I really don't know why Amazon put me through this nightmare.This is a nice bookshelf ... if you can live with an interior depth of less than 12". Incidentally, the guy who put these together told me how they came up with the depth they wrote down. There is a "crown" at the top of the shelf. It is for decoration, and is not practical usable depth. I am left not trusting any dimensions listed on Amazon and will make my furniture purchases, or anything else that requires specific dimensions, elsewhere. And I can almost guarantee you that they will continue to sell these shelves with the incorrect dimensions listed.

The Bookcase deserves 5 stars, it is well built and sturdy. The packaging is terrible. ALL Bookcases arrived with some damage, two were broken in two. That knocks to score down to 4.

Was delivered on time as promised. Heavy boxes, so if you're planning to assemble these bookcases yourself, I'd strongly recommend getting some help. Solid commercial office grade construction. The simulated cherry finish looks pretty good too. Not something I'd put in my living room, but fine for a home office or rec room.
