Q: What is the pH of this soap please?

Soap will always have an alkaline pH ranging from about 9.5 to about 11.5, even if the soap does not have any excess lye.

Q: Does it set clear?...

If nothing is added to it, yes! I added espresso grounds for an exfoliating soap and it took on the color of the espresso.

Q: The packaging says 'organic' but I don't see the actual certification from the USDA anywhere on the packaging. Where is the info to verify 'organic'?

Hi Jennifer, I'm Rudy. From what I have researched, the main ingredient that is in question is, 'pentasodium pentetate', it's used in products to remove soap scum and mineral deposits that are caused by hard water. By binding to the soap scum or deposit, it allows them to be rinsed away. Basically it's a binding agent, it binds to filth and to calcium ions (which may have filth attached to it). An article on the search engine list says it is on the soon to be banned list in the UK. If Japan, Sweden, Hunargy, or the UK is banning it, it's probably a good idea to stay away from it. But I bought it already to avoid Squatch Soap's prices. It says infants shouldn't use it, it could cuase skin irritation to sensitive skin. I advise the use of some aloe in your recipe to counter balance this possible affect. Also, these ingredients are still WAY better than the cheap stuff. Also, Squatch soap uses lye, apparently that isn't best either. The other ingredients in this product are natural byproducts, and isolated fatty acids (These fats helps to actually clean your skin), fatty acids from coconut oil, and palm oil. Some very sensitive people can get irritated skin from these, other than sensitive people, I mean some people can die if they eat peanuts/peanut butter, or shellfish, so, to eaches own I guess.

You make some healthy soap with this.

I am going to use it to make some awesome homemade hand and body soap with natural ingredients that nourish and clean me, not infect me with toxins that are endocrine disruptors and solvents that cause me skin rashes and dirty my blood as my skin absorbs it.
