Spigen Ultra Hybrid Designed for iPhone Xs Case (2018) / Designed for iPhone X Case (2017) - Crystal Clear

I've had this case on my iPhone for 5-7 years. The phone is still wholly intact. The kickstand fell off about a year or two ago. I trust spigen cases.

I buy a lot of phone cases. For different reasons. For me, it is finding one that can take a few drops. Good ones. Like on cement stairs. But I don’t want anything like an Otterbox or something that you have to encase with multiple pieces. I want it to be light. I want it completely clear. I want it to look like glass, but feel like rubber because I need a certain grip. Unfortunately I am on the phone too much. That’s another issue. I have an iPhone X and my phone gets dropped from time to time. It happens. We all know what that situation feels like: you are opening your car door, keys or purse or wallet or groceries everywhere, things are going on, it’s Tuesday, and you drop it. And time stands still as you calculate the potential cost of what fate could soon bring. Did you buy a cheap case? What is cheap? Am I feeling lucky? This case was tested twice. By accident. Right off the bat, you can see and feel the quality of the case. Full disclosure, I use this company’s (Spigen) magnetic phone case holder that simply consists of a powerful magnet that slides between vent slots and a flat piece of metal that you stick to the back of your phone case. I love that product because it actually works. That’s another review I will do if it helps anyone. I spent a lot of money on junk on here. It happens. It’s not like I am getting ripped off by hundreds, but through the years I have bought plenty. And shatterproof glass screen protectors, which you also have to have to compliment your case. If you aren’t going to put a good screen protector on your phone, don’t waste money on this case or any other. My opinion. But it is based on having lots of experiece. Like 2 teenagers. I invest in quality screen protectors and it has paid off. This review of this case includes the fact that I had an excellent screen protector on my phone as well as this case. I didn’t have the case for more than 30 hours before two good tests. The first drop was the classic too much crap in my hands at the mailbox straight up drop on cement. It was dropped from approximately 5 feet. Wind conditions were normal. Visibility was clear and there was a fairly significant amount of humidity which is normal for Miami. Picked up my phone already convincing myself it was cracked. It’s an unpleasant experience to say the least. The result? No damage. Nothing. Nada. The second drop was me running to my truck in the rain. It was pouring and I was waiting for the rain to let up before making a break for it. No pun intended. I started but immediately realized I wasn’t going to make it without getting soaked and ran a few steps back and slipped just a little. Just enough to grab the rail hard with my phone in my hand. Pretty good impact on the rail and then immediately it was dropped. About 3 ft. Nothing. No damage whatsoever.I love this case. It’s light weight and firm. You can tell by the quality of the areas that cover the volume controls, etc. because they are very responsive and line up exactly. Clear. The drops were a result of my clumsiness and decisions and not a result of grip. This is in no way slick or glass like. I have a case that I love that works wth little magnets and it creates air pockets and other cool stuff. But it is slippery. It’s curved too. You cannot use a slippery case even if it is the coolest case and it could under the right circumstances change your life. You can’t. So if you are getting away with that right now, a slippery phone, you should quit while you are ahead. I am really happy with this case. If you want to get into details about what they claim is “air cushioned technology” you can check the specs. What I notice is all 4 corners widen slightly to absorb impact and the molding on the bottom outside raises slightly at all corners to prevent full impact if dropped flat. I am going to get a few more for this price. They are good gifts. Especially for people who break their phone a lot and you pick up the bill. Buy.

This case saved my iPhone X from damage both times I dropped the phone (from 3-4 feet). Not a scratch on the phone or the case.I have had very positive experiences with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid cases I owned for each of my previous 3 iPhones (7+, 6S+, and 6). Aside from the difference in phone dimensions and button/camera placement, these cases are identical--made of the same material and with the same safety features -- the raised lip around the screen, the shock-absorbing corners, and the little indents (which you can't really see) that lift the back off your desk a tiny extra bit to protect the camera bump. I am clumsy and drop my phone about 2x/week, and my phone has never suffered any damage when in this case, either cosmetically or functionally.I also have an Apple leather case, which is more elegant as well as thinner and lighter. I use it when I want to dress up the phone. But it is far less protective than this Spigen case. The Apple case protects from scratches and scuffs, mostly just on the back side. The Apple case has a raised lip around the front edge of the display, but it is a very tiny lip. The Spigen's is bigger and therefore protects the screen better when setting the phone face down.I also looked at the Otterbox Symmetry in person, tried it on my phone. The Symmetry is the thinnest and least ugly of the Otterbox iPhone X cases. I like it pretty well and it's very protective. It is slightly bulkier than this Spigen case and it costs $40 instead of $12 to $14 for the Spigen case. The Otterbox Symmetry might be a smidge more protective, or maybe not. But as stated above, I have dropped many iPhones many times in Spigen cases and never any damage.I like the aesthetics of the Spigen Ultra Hybrid case. The clear back lets the beauty of the iPhone X show through. The bumper comes in different colors as well as transparent. I've purchased the transparent for my previous iPhones but got the "space crystal" for my space grey iPhone X. The space crystal bumper is transparent and slightly tinted grey. It goes very well with the space grey iPhone X but so would the transparent one.One last thing: many TPU cases by other manufacturers gradually turn yellow after 3 or 4 months. In my experience with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid case on my previous iPhones, it starts yellowing very slightly after 8 or 9 months and still doesn't look bad after 10 or 11 months. By that time, I'm almost ready to upgrade to a new iPhone. But if I keep my iPhone X for two years and this Spigen case starts looking a bit yellow, I'll replace it for a new one. It is affordable and very protective, and looks good. It's worth it to me if I have to buy a new one every 10 or 12 months for only $12 or $14. That's still cheaper than the $40 Otterbox or the $50 Apple Leather Case.Highly recommended!

Fits great, looks great. I’m very pleased with it.

Glad I purchased this. It fits snug and does not prevent any button from being pressed etc. The most important feature for me is I don’t have to take the phone out of the case to charge it. I am sure with time the plastic will yellow but other than that I am happy with this purchase.
