Hello, Does this item create a smell at all?

Plugged it in today so too early to tell if it works really but it does have smell that somewhat resembles stinky dog feet!

how long does it take to start working

It started working for my cats in less then 2 weeks they are a lot less stressedJust make sure where you plug it in is not blocked by anything the is a strong musk smell but I got used to it and as long as it's working for my cats that's all I want

My dog isn't aggressive at all but barks and jumps when people are in my home and on the street with other animals would this help?

I honestly think it just depends on the animal. I have a very small cat who doesn't relax anywhere other than home & it doesn't work at all for her I'm afraid. Definitely worth a try though!
