Amazon Basics Narrow Kitchen Plastic Rectangular Trash Can with Steel Pedal, Black, 40 Liters

After reading all of the reviews, I decided to take a chance. I’m glad I did. Contrary to what I read it is quite easy to install a garbage bag on the rim. And I use it for dog food. Anyone purchasing it for that reason should know that that’s not what it’s made for. It’s lightweight but sturdy and has a lock. Mine is situated in a small corner of the pantry where my dogs can’t tip it over. However, it should be noted that if you leave it out, I imagine a bigger dog could have at it. The lid has a slow close but it’s designed that way so it doesn’t slam down on your hand. I really like it bought two.

This is a very well made tall kitchen trash can, stylish, and since it's a slim trash can it takes up half the space of a regular trash can, but still holds a lot of trash. Great for apartments! Well worth the money.

Easy to use with step and lid opening. Love the way you can wrap garbage bags inside so you don't see any edges. Perfect size for our small kitchen.

After a lot of research on narrow trash cans, including the more expensive ones, I am very happy to have chosen this one. When I step on the pedal, it gently lifts the lid to whatever height I need, i.e., it does not quickly "pop" wide open, which is important if you are putting it next to/under a counter overhang. It is easy to manually lift the lid and interior ring all the way to change the bag. No issue with fingerprints like the metal cans. The slow close lid is quiet, and the lock feature is nice is you have nosy pets. I really like the interior ring that holds the bag in place, but so far I cannot find any way to hide the edges of the bag. I use Costco 13 gallon bags, which may be the issue and otherwise work fine, but when they are gone I will purchase black bags to get a cleaner look. Not worth a star deduction, just the only thing standing in the way of perfection!

I love that this trash can isn't metal (which dents), is narrow, has a quiet close (with one exception), has a lock (my boxer is frustrated and gives it two stars), HOWEVER, the so called "bag buckle" sticks in the lid, so instead of a quiet open and close, you get a quiet open, then a bang when the buckle falls. Or, worse yet, whatever you are tossing in gets whacked by the bag buckle.My solution: double-sided sticky tape on the edge of the bag. It works! But rethink the design, guys or gals. Perhaps the bag buckle needs a latch?

I have had several trash cans of this style; the closest is the Hefty brand you can buy at most big box stores. What makes this one better is 1) it has a visible red-green indicator to show if it is locked, and 2) It has a spring that keeps the top from slamming, and it goes down nice and smooth. 3) To leave it in the open state, you can lift the lid manually, and it will stay up, or use the pedal. Other brands make you do one or the other, and the mechanism is not as robust. 4) The mechanism to hold bags firmly on top is easy to use and not prone to breaking. Other models overly complicate holding the top of the bag. I'm very happy with this trash can and will slowly replace my existing cans with this design.

Been looking for a new can to fit a narrow place and this one is perfect. It’s thinner at the bottom but has a nice wide opening at top. 13 gallon bags fit perfect and it even has a bar to hold the bag down. Top goes up and down very smoothly and stays open by just lifting it. I’m very happy with this purchase!

I really like this product as much as one can like a trash can!! :) I have looked at many others because I really did not have much space and needed one that was quite narrow. BINGO - got what was needed with this one. Was also happy that this has a lock on it. Believe it or not, my little Maltese Max , who is only 6.5lbs, will push and push ANY trash can until he can turn it over! It seems to be his hobby these days. It may take him most of the day, but he gets the job done. So, the lock is very good and he can not get into the trash now!!Great product and reasonably priced!

After several days of finding garbage on the floor after coming home from work and assuming it was our Poodle…one day I came home, found garbage again…but the dog had been with our son all day! 😂So…the cats were the culprits and I apologized to my old guy who’s 13 1/2 now! ♥️However, now the search was on for a good looking pair of locking garbage and recycle bins for our kitchen. I searched on Amazon.ca and when I found these I knew they were perfect…and they definitely are!We are very happy with our new Amazon Basics Narrow Kitchen Plastic Trash Can … they look and fit greatIn our kitchen…and so far it’s foiled the cat attacks!

This is a great garbage can that has decent features to ensure things stay pretty clean. For one, there is a trash bag loop to prevent bags from falling in.But my favourite feature? The slim portfolio has no room inside for the bag to buldge. You won't be trying to force bags out of the can when the bag is full nor will it snag on something inside the can.

I was looking for a narrow garbage bin, but most of those I found cost around $130. We needed three, and it was a bit too expensive. So, when I found this product around $75, I was overjoyed. But one thing I didn't count on was its lightness. It's so light that when it is empty, every time we open the lid, it moves. If I had known about it, I might have invested a little bit more money.
