These steel to wood fence brackets are great. Makes building a steel post, wood fence a breeze. Two friends and I were able to get 500 feet of fence done in just 2 days.

These brackets do a good job of securing a cylindrical metal post to a fence rail. The carriage bolts are easy to torque down real tight because the bolt head end has a square shoulder which fits into a square hole in the bracket. Thus it is quick and easy to torque down as tight as you like. The carriage bolts, nuts, and lag screws are all high quality with clearly very good quality control in manufacturing, and a high quality zinc-wash finish.The bracket pieces are also stiff and strong with the 2.5mm sheet stock being adequately sized for a strong fence rail for farm and homestead. The black finish appears to me like a high quality enamel; if it is enamel I don't think it would perform in exterior use as well as a powder coat, but perhaps it is a powder coat? I base my observation on past experience which tells me that powder coats are generally matte while these brackets' black finish is more like a semi-gloss. It does appear to be a high quality finish but only time can tell how well it protects the steel from rust over many, many years. I don't know the answer. I've had these only a very short time.I spot checked the quantities of pieces (except the lag screws and the nuts) and everything checked out. A quick inspection of everything revealed zero imperfections, burrs or flaws of any kind.I like this design because of its versatility. First, the diameter of the post starts at a minimum of roughly 1 1/2 inches but can go considerably higher. Second, these brackets are not for fences only. They are handy to clamp a variety of objects onto posts, for example you can use these to attach lighting or security cameras to metal posts that are mounted in concrete.Finally, two dozen units including fasteners costs currently $84 after coupon which is $3.50 per unit. This does strike me as slightly high considering the bulk quantity, reducing my overall rating by 1/2 star to an overall rating of 4 1/2 stars. Quality and quality control are very good but three and half bucks apiece would seem alright for a few units but for a quantity of 24 I'd hope for a better price.

I used these brackets to make an outdoor run for a couple of hogs. I was surprised to discover how big and heavy each one of these brackets are. They came with all the mounting hardware and were easy to install. They gripped like a vice on my steel posts and don’t slide when I put my weight on the top board to climb over. The coating is heavy and durable, without any signs of chipping or scratching from shipping. The hardware is only zinc plated but should hold up reasonably well in the elements. At a little more than 4 dollars a pop, they’re a bit steep, but they are solid and If they keep my fence up against hogs, I’ll say it’s money well spent.
