Product Description ------------------- Beetroot moulin rouge seed by Mr. Fothergill's. Easy to thin, monogerm variety. An excellent quality 'monogerm' variety, it produces only one or two s per seed so greatly reducing the need for wasteful thinning. The sweet tasting roots can be harvested young as 'baby' beet or left to mature. Useful Information: Easy to grow variety; Folate; Dietary fibre; Potassium Sow and Grow: Outdoors: Sow thinly, April-July, where they are to crop, 2.5 cm (1-inch) deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-cultivated, fertile soil, which has already been watered. Allow 30 cm (1 feet) between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Thin seedlings to 10 cm (4-inch) apart, or 5cm (2-inch) apart for baby beet. Water well until s are established. Regular sowings, made every three weeks, should ensure a continuous supply of young beets. Harvest: June-October. Hints and Tips: Twist the leaves off to prevent the colour 'bleeding.' Harvest alternate beets from 5cm (2-inch) diameter, leaving others space to develop. Care and Cultivation: Harvested roots can be stored in dry sand for winter use.
