Medical Anatomical Female Pelvis Skeleton Model, with 4th, 5th Lumbar Vertebr, Life Size

The model is 10 inches from Iliac crest to iliac crest. My own is 11 5/8 inches, but I am a male of northern European descent. One review said it was smaller than life size, but there is so much individual variation in H. Sapiens, that I am not sure. It is made in China, and I suspect that the cast was made from an Asian skeleton. Each Sacroiliac joint is held together with two screws. You will need a phillips no. 1 driver if you want to take them apart. I have not done so, and do not know if they thread into a metal insert, or directly into the polymer. There is one screw at the pubic joint. The interpubic disc and intervertebrae discs are silicone. The two vertebrae are held on with an acorn nut. You will need a 6mm wrench if you want to disassemble the them. None of the joints move. This lack of detail may be a problem in some cases, such as child birth, but it also means a considerable cost savings in cases where that level of detail is not needed. It should be adequate for introductory anatomy in the medical field, or for anatomy intended for first responders, artists, or snipers; or for comparative anatomy for zoologists and paleontologists.

This product is exactly as described: a basic pelvic model. I bought it for a childbirth education class I teach, and as others have mentioned, it is not flexible. I solved that issue with a drill and some rubber bands. Now it flexes almost too easily...I may need to get something a little more stuff, but for now some thick rubber bands are working great to help me demonstrate how the pelvis naturally flexes during childbirth. And at $35, certainly worth the investment. Definitely recommend if you're handy with a drill, some wire, and some rubber bands. Four stars because I had to modify it...why hasn't someone thought to make it this way already?

I purchased this for work. I am a physical therapist specializing in the treatment of women's health issues. This is a great anatomical visual for my patients. It's well made and very sturdy. It's a great learning tool.

Just what I needed for life drawing internal structure visualisation, but it's low price naturally means it's not perfect.In fact, there are/were a bunch of problems with mine, the obvious ones being roughly cut off casting flashing all round the edges, and plastic swarf not removed after drilling the screw holes sticking out from between the parts.I have also ended up completely disassembling it to correct two main assembly problems -1. The mounting hole through one of the lumbar vertebrae had been drilled way off centre and at an angle, and the mounting rod had not been bent to reflect the natural curve of the lumbar spine. Looked all wrong.2. The joint at the front was mis-aligned, one side being lower than the other by about 4mm, and the bottom of the lower side had been cut away to hide the mis-matching lower edges. It required plugging the hole in one side and re-drilling in the correct position, and then glueing on extra plastic to be carved to replace that which had been removed.Still worth it though.

Es una pelvis de tamaño real antropoide (no es ginecoide), para estudiar está bien.No se retropulsa el cóccix, pero como menciono, para estudiar los huesos cumple su función.Para el precio que tiene está muy bien.

Retoure -da das Steißbein sowie die Beckenhälften unbeweglich sind. Naturgetreu bzw wie in einer Rezension beschrieben "anatomisch original" hatte ich mir anders vorgestellt. Schade. Wenigstens ist die Rücksendung kostenlos.
