Good stuff, smells quite nice

I'm a guy who tends to let his hair get a bit long and takes too long between haircuts. I have fine, dirty blonde hair that gets REALLY fluffy after washing and gets REALLY flat and oily after a day or so. If I don't have something in it to keep it in place it'll just turn into a giant puffball on top of my head. I decided to give this Hair Dough a try just to change things up and see what else is out there. It's a very thick, tacky white cream with a sweet, almost fruity (but still masculine) scent. It spreads reasonably well but if you aren't careful and get too much in one spot it'll take some time and maybe a comb to get it to spread out. I always apply it to slightly damp hair which I think helps a bit. It holds very well and will last a couple days if you don't wash your hair daily. It isn't greasy, it isn't oily, it isn't shiny, and it doesn't leave your hair crunchy or overly stiff. It works, it's reasonably priced, it smells pretty good, and I can't make any complains about it. Give it a try.

Great Sweet Smell. Has Different Results Based on Dampness of Hair.

This review is for the Matte Product. The smell? Its sweet. It reminds me of two things. 1. Orange Julius (if you know what that is) 2. Peach Flavored Hi-Chew Candy. In either case, the smell is sweet, but not overpowering. Hair Dough "Pomade" does NOT smell like the "Matte" product. The pomade is your typical "I just shook my grandpa's hand as his old spice after shave now lingers all over me" smell. This "Matte" is a much cleaner, crisper, sweet smell. I like it, but if you want the typical "spice" that most male products have, go with the pomades in the line.Applying it to different levels of hair dampness, WILL affect the results. Depending on your hair type, you need to experiment. Trying to apply this product to dry hair is a glutton for punishment. It does not spread well and you will pull your hair to no end. I have short #3 sides and back with about 4-5 inches of long hair up top. I apply it out of the shower to damp hair, not soaking wet. I will then wet my hand, shake off the excess and apply about a quarter sized dollop to my palm. Rub your hands together until it is warm and there is an even white haze on your hands. I then run my fingers through my hair making sure to get it everywhere and focus primarily on the long front and roots of the front. I have to rub my hands together two to three times while applying to re-spread the product evenly. It may not seem like it is coming off your hands, but be patient and keep running your hands through your hair until it is all gone. Your hair should be pretty stiff. If it is too loose and without hold, either you did not use enough product or your hair was too wet. Again, you need to experiment. I then use a brush to get the hair all in one direction. I do not recommend a comb with this stuff. I would recommend a hair brush with bristles. Even then it will be be hard to comb through as this stuff really thickens and locks up the hair. I then shape the hair to my styling. This stuff holds all day and has no shine. It is stiff, but not overly stiff like gels. If I don't touch my hair, it will stay put from 7am to 7pm. Running your hands through your hair is not possible without breaking the hold and style and looking like a porcupine. However, getting your hands wet and slightly dampening the hair, will allow you to re-style it. I hated this stuff when I first got it, but I stuck with it and tried a bunch of different combos. I now think it is one of my favorites for matte hair. When I want shiny hair, I go with their pomade although I dislike the spice smell. Bottom line, you need to experiment with it until you find that sweet spot. I have tried Hanz de Fuko, Reuzel, Fiber Creams, etc, etc. This one by far needs the most experimentation for your hair type and dampness.

Great for Natural Looks, But Could Use a Stronger Hold

I’ve been using Hair Dough for a while now, and I really like how it lets me style my hair without it looking like I put a ton of effort into it. It gives a nice, matte finish, which is great if you’re going for that "styled but effortless" look. My hair feels light when I wear it, not weighed down at all, which is something I’ve had trouble with in other products. The only thing is, I wish it had a little more hold. I find myself having to use more than I’d like to keep my hair in place throughout the day. But once you get the right amount in, it works pretty well.Just a heads up—if you don’t rub it in completely, you might notice a bit of white residue. I’ve got dirty blonde hair, and it’s fine for me as long as I really work it in. It also washes out super easily, which is a huge plus. I can pretty much rinse my hair with water, and it feels like I’ve gotten most of the product out.Overall, it’s a solid product for anyone looking for a natural finish. If you don’t need an extreme hold, this will work great for everyday use.

Great substitute for DSC Hair Clay

Long ago, Gillette, of all folks, made the best hair clay out there. It was discontinued, and the search was on. Dollar Shave Club made a fantastic successor, but it too has been discontinued, and occasionally restocked, but for consistencies sake, look no further than this outstanding, matte finish, firm hold (but still reasonably pliable) hair clay/putty. Not cheap, but I believe this tub will last a long time, and honestly the price isn’t that bad for the looks it can achieve. Highly recommended.

THE HOLY GRAIL for fine, slippery hair!!!

This is it, y’all!! Stop looking, you’ve found it.I am a woman who has short, fine, slippery straight hair. Over the years I have tried absolutely every wax, paste, fiber, pomade, glue, spray, gel that you‘ve heard of from the store brands to name brands to high end salon brands and THIS ONE is the ONLY one that I can use to style my hair and NOT HAVE TO USE HAIRSPRAY TO SET!!!!I would say the texture and density is very much like the American Crew fiber, but this has staying power where that one does not. It’s thicker but not goopy like Manipulator but not as sticky as G2B glue. The way I use it- hair is dry and ready to style, I dip product out, smear on my palm, wet ONE hand and rub, rub, rub until emulsified, then I attack my hair. It does not make my hair look oily or dirty and the wet (from my hands) dries in about 10 mins but hair looks dry and matte. The best part…. The next morning and morning after that and 4th if I push it, I just lightly wet my hands, attack my hair, and boom!! Styled. Sometimes I add a little extra if I want my bangs to lay flat and smooth, but just a wee bit.My hair does look pretty dirty on day 3, but idgaf.BUY THIS!

Great hold, low shine. Exactly what I was looking for

Finally the styling product I've been looking for! Medium/long hair - provides a beachy hair look with great hold. Washes very easily too
